2026 economic
outlook
The meat and poultry industry’s economic forecast for 2026 points to increased chicken and pork production, and wholesale prices for broilers are expected to decrease while pork prices may see some downward pressure. Beef production is forecast lower, with consumption also projected to decrease, leading consumers to potentially trade down to cheaper poultry and pork options.
The coming year offers the opportunity for chicken at foodservice as beef prices rise, while consumers shifting to at-home dining to save money plays to pork’s strength.
And consumers’ continued interest in high protein consumption in their diets remains welcome news for the whole meat case.
